Coralee and Lisa,
antique devotees

An interest in antiques is not a solitary pursuit. So it's no surprise that Coralee and Lisa met ten years ago at... where else?... an auction. The friendship grew rapidly and they began sharing dealer space in a Topeka antique mall before launching Brickhouse.

An earlier generation, particularly grandmothers, fueled the women's interest in antiques.

Coralee's father had inherited an 1880's china cabinet that Coralee remembers "being full of things from his mother's mother Fannie" with stories attached to each thing in the china cabinet.

Lisa remembers her grandma's like of decorating, particularly unique and one-of-a-kind things, and her love to "treasure hunt." It's a "wanderlust" Lisa expends by attending auctions, estate sales and seeking out architectural salvage. "I have the urge to be creative," says Lisa.
